OAK Racing left frustrated with Spa qualifying

A  frustrating qualifying session for the second round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship saw OAK Racing just miss out on a second consecutive LMP2 class pole position at Spa-Francorchamps on  04/05/2012       Having secured top spot at Sebring in March, and headed the times during free practice here, hopes were high that Olivier Pla could once again thrust the #24 Morgan 2012 LMP2 on to the front row. But in such a highly-competitive class even the slightest setback can cost several positions and so it proved when traffic on his first flying lap severely hampered the Frenchman’s progress. With the tyres past their best, Pla’s best lap of 2m09.656 was good enough for fourth in class, albeit just 0.3 seconds shy of pole position. Meanwhile the #35 Morgan 2012 LMP2 lines up eighth in a tightly-congested LMP2 midfield thanks to...

OAK Racing hoping to star in Spa

A comparatively short trip across the border into Belgium awaits French outfit OAK Racing next weekend (May 3-5) when the FIA World Endurance Championship pitches camp in Europe for the first time this season ahead of round two, the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Facing up to the challenge will be OAK Racing’s regular two-car WEC roster, plus an additional LMP2 entry. Guillaume Moreau, Dominik Kraihamer and home favourite Bertrand Baguette are all hoping to build on their solid showing at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March where the #15 OAK-Pescarolo LMP1 demonstrated strong pace amongst its petrol-powered rivals. A class podium at Sebring also made for an excellent start to the Onroak Automotive designed and built Morgan 2012 LMP2 programme, especially after the #24 car driven by Jacques Nicolet, Matthieu Lahaye and Olivier Pla had taken pole position and set fastest race lap....
