New 170mph Bean Machine

ACCIDENT-prone Mr Bean has treated himself to a racy New Year present – one of the world’s fastest cars.

Actor Rowan Atkinson, who plays the rubber-faced clown, has bought a super-quick £110,000 Morgan Aeromax.

The British-built mean machine is a far cry from Mr Bean’s tatty yellow Austin Mini.

The limited-edition Aeromax races from 0-60MPH in less than five seconds – and has a top speed of 170MPH.

The motor has an amazing Batmobile-style gull-wing boot, 20-inch alloy wheels – and a whopping 4.4litre V8 engine.

Worcestershire-based Morgan is making only 100 of the exclusive cars and Atkinson, 52, put down a £25,000 deposit to reserve his on the back of the success of his film, Mr Bean’s Holiday.

The Blackadder star already has a collection of luxury motors including Aston Martins.

But he hopes the Aeromax has better luck than his £650,000 McLaren F1. He bought the supercar to celebrate the first Mr Bean movie but wrecked it in 1999.

A Morgan insider said: “It’s a good job Rowan got in quick because they have all been snapped up. It’s a great investment because the cars can only rocket in value. Obviously Mr Bean’s no fool really.”
