Morgan 3 Wheeler Brings 1930’s Motoring Style to China

Beijing China, 8th May 2014 The Morgan 3 Wheeler is now available in China via the Morgan Cars Beijing. The 3 Wheeler is a modern rendition of the popular Morgan Super Sports 3 wheelers first introduced by Morgan Motor Company in the 1930’s in England. Within two years of introduction in 2011, the Morgan 3 Wheeler sold 1,000 units in Europe and America, and is now available in China.

The 2.0L S&S engined, 3 wheeled vehicle weights just 525kg and offers excitement and aesthetics to auto enthusiasts in China. Morgan 3 Wheeler still holds long distance speed records for one litre cars set in the 1930′s. The pronounced aluminum bullet hull and the exposed tubular chassis are accompanied by the aeroplane profile of the car’s sides. A leather padded cockpit complete with aircraft instrumentation adds to the sense of flying on the road. The car seems to respond as much to thought as physical input. With an estimated 140 Newton metres of torque the motor provides maximum power at minimum revs.

Jim James, Managing Director of Malvern Morgan Cars (Beijing) said, “The Morgan 3 Wheeler is an important part of the Morgan range of bespoke vehicles in China. It offers a unique combination of retro styling with modern performance, and of course customized to personal tastes. As a special collection item inspired to celebrate the ancestry of British racing cars and their styling, the Brooklands 3 wheeler limited edition is only produced 50 in total globally, which made this vehicle even more valuable both as a piece of art collection and future investment to purchase.”

Morgan Cars entered China in 2012 and has since undertaken the necessary measures to ensure that the British hand built cars can be imported and registered for road use, opening a showroom in Beijing in June. The Morgan 3 Wheeler is imported as a vehicle, however, it is not available for road registration and therefore buyers will be able to demonstrate legal importation and will be at liberty to decide where and when they use the vehicle for private recreation. The Classic Range of cars, including the Plus 4, Roadster and Plus 8 are all being imported and licensed for road registration.
The Morgan 3 Wheeler will be available in China via the Morgan Cars China Dealer Network. The small but well resourced network includes the classic car specialists of west China, San He Group, and the Hong Kong listed company Yong Da Automobile Group, in west China. These will be the companies which bring the Morgan 3 Wheeler into the regional markets alongside Jia Jun in Qingdao and the flagship Morgan Cars (Beijing) showroom in Beijing.
